Tornado Watch!!

Last night the tornado sirens blared, my phone starting ringing, Lloyd's phone starting ringing and a text came through on my phone. All of this commotion began at about 11:00 p.m. Before we moved our answer to tornado warnings was to watch out the window as we had no basement to move into. Last night I woke-up Lloyd and asked if we should move the boys and Nora. We decided since we have a basement it would fall under bad parenting if we didn't move them. So, we watched the news and listened to the storm. About 11:15 p.m. the cell had weakened and the watch expired. We moved the kids back to their beds.

Everyone except Lloyd went back to sleep. Then it was like ground hogs day. Sirens blare....you get the idea. This time we were smart parents. We set up the port-a-crib, make the extra bed and moved the boys and Nora to spend the night downstairs. Lloyd and I made ourselves a comfy cozy bed out of couch cusions. We had seen the line of storms stretched down to Ohio. It could have been a long night but we slept. Occasionally we woke up to the storms thunder, lighting and rage. This morning ou house was safe and outside looked fine.

A tornado did touch down about 20 minutes from our house and lots of flooding in the area. 5 people lost their lives in Ohio and only minor injuries for people in Michigan. Some areas look horrible. Many people were up most of the night trying to get generators hooked-up for the subpumps. I can't believe we slept and felt safe. What a blessing!!

Conversation with a 5 year old

Reuben: I am going to get a 1 bedroom house

Mom: Really, who will cook for you?

Reuben: I will

Mom: Who will clean for you?

Reuben: I will

Mom: Who will tuck you into bed at night?

Reuben: I will

Mom: What about the nights when you come into my bed?

Reuben: I won't have scary dreams in my 1 bedroom house

Mom: Will you have a wife?

Reuben: I can't have a wife until I am older, you know like 8.

Mom couldn't respond because she was laughing too hard, who knew 8 was old?

I should be studying; however.....

I have been thinking a lot lately (this could really get dangerous). To start with have I ever told you how much I hate depression. I am finally going on just over a month with really good days. The kind where stress is related to things worth stressing over. You know children's education, family issues, the stuff everyone deals with on a daily baises. A welcome relieve! So, this has lead to my thinking... am I doing better because my baby is almost 2 years old and that is generally how long postpartum depression lasts? Is it because all the hours of counseling are paying off? Have I really learned to let things go? Or is it because I went back to school?

School leads me to my next item of what I think about....
I love, love, love school. I love that I have to get up and be somewhere for me, just me. How selfish is that! I love that I get papers back that have check-marks or stars on them. Heck, even just a score is great; of course, the higher the better. Not to brag but I am good at school. It is something I can do and get feedback from someone telling me I did well. My thoughts about school range from: 1. this is awesome they want to give me scholarships 2. I love what I am learning 3. I need to be spending more time with my children 4. School feels selfish for me

Needless to say I don't think I will be solving the world's problems. For today I will love my husband and children while I love school too!
