3 Things

Today 3 things:
a text
a blog post
a phone call
Completely changed my feelings about my day and
for a moment life as I know it.

1. I received a text which read: "There is a high chance that I will be taking off on my bike when I get home tonight."
A simple text that probably took Lloyd seconds to type gave me the heads up. I was able to adjust my expectations for the evening accordingly and the night went much better.
So simple yet such a big deal to me.

2.I was blog surfing and one link lead to another I ended up on this post.

I was reminded of how powerful prayer is. The post also made me think of how Heavenly Father is mindful of each of His sons and daughters.

3. While I was crying reading the above blog R brought me the phone.
It was my doctor. (So fun to explain to the doctor that I was really ok and only crying because I had been blog surfing.) I will spare you details but crazy things have been going on in my health world. I have been on thyroid medicine since Sept.11 2001 for hypothyroid. Basically my thyroid has an identity crisis and does not like to produce the hormone it should. My levels were just checked in December protocol is to check every year. Yesterday my doctor decided to check my levels again.  She was calling to tell me my thyroid was not just off it was WAY OFF!! I love that thyroid level are checked with a simple blood test. Kudos to my doctor for acting on a hunch.. I even questioned her yesterday on why we should test again so soon. :) I may be "normal" again soon.

Cleaning the Room

It was horrible! When I say that I leave no room (no pun intended) for doubt.  The boys room had exploded. I know I should have taken a picture but then you might judge me as a mother for having a messy house. :)  Of course the boys had no desire to clean their room.  We have been in a bit of a stand-off since last Thursday when I told them they needed to clean their room to have a friend come over.  Needless to say I think the boys were winning.

So today I received some wise advise. It was pointed out to me that it was my desire to have their room clean and not the boys deepest secret desire. (Okay not exactly how it was said but still you get the point.)

THE PRINCIPLE: Ultimately I should be concerned about teaching my boys HOW to clean a room.

The REALITY:  I invite the boys to a meeting in their room. They were actually pretty excited at this point! :) Me: explaining to the boys how I want to help them have a clean room but I need their help. All excitement GONE... the boys take all sheets and blankets off their beds because they want to switch where their head goes. Me: really wanting to just throw EVERYTHING away. Me: praying to be able to find something/anything praiseworthy to encourage the cleaning process. Me: almost in tears trying to convince the boys to put the garbage in the trash bag by making chomping noises. R doing somersaults on the bottom bed to "smooth" the quilts. J pinning himself in between the bed and wall saying he just can't reach the garbage. I could go on and on and on and one.

The END: Room finally clean.  J and R saying how fun it was to clean the room.

WHERE ON EARTH DID THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOW TO RAISE THESE KIDS GET PUT!!

I am now off  to read the book: "How to talk so kids will listen; How to listen so kids will talk." Recommended to me by the wise person mentioned above. Heaven please help our little home.:)

Eagles

Long, long ago I found myself in junior high....

Now, I find myself on the other side of the country becoming an Eagle again...

I feel just as nervous as the first day of junior high.
Hopefully, I don't have to repeat the lessons I learned in my first flight. ;)
